A fundraiser for longtime local Paul Russell, who suffered a debilitating auto accident last week, will be hosted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Rivers Restaurant. Entertainment will be provided by The Frustrations from 7-11 p.m.Paul Russell is currently in the critical care unit at St. Marys Hospital. Funds are being raised to assist with the medical care associated with his injuries. Nancy Reinisch, author of Chemosabee: A Triathletes Journey Through the First Year of Breast Cancer, will be signing copies of her book from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, in the upper lobby of Valley View Hospital.Nancy will introduce the book, read excerpts and show a few slides. Tours of the Cancer Center and information on cancer support groups will be available. Light refreshments will be served.

Enjoy the magic of a small town Christmas celebration with holiday decorations, caroling, Santa and his reindeer, refreshments and holiday shopping at A Grand Holiday, presented by the Downtown Business Association and Glenwoods Downtown Market. The event will take place from 4-7 p.m. Dec. 6, in downtown Glenwood Springs at Centennial Park. Santa and three reindeer will make a pre-Christmas appearance at the event, and kids can enjoy free reindeer cart rides and the opportunity to visit with Santa. Participants may warm up by the fire, roast marshmallows and make smores. The Mountain Harmony carolers will sing in the park before their traditional stroll through downtown, entertaining shoppers and diners. Grand Avenue will be festooned with holiday window displays, and the winner of the 2008 Window Display contest will be announced at the event.Many of the downtown businesses will be hosting open houses that evening with in-store specials, refreshments and appetizers.

The Mountain Madrigal Singers will perform Songs of Hope, its 28th annual Christmas Concert, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12; Sunday, Dec. 14; and Saturday, Dec. 20, at First United Methodist Church, 824 Cooper Ave. in Glenwood Springs.The performances are free; however donations are welcome. Free child care will be provided.The program will be a blend of traditional and contemporary songs, some classical and some light.
