The New Castle Branch Library will host an artist reception at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, for Scott Pope, a gifted photographic artist. His work will be on display all month at the library. Bring your digital camera, and Scott will hold a short workshop on getting the most out of your camera.

The Garfield New Energy Communities Initiative Advisory Board will meet from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Garfield County Administration Building, 108 Eighth St. in Glenwood Springs.

Hospice of the Valley is offering a three-session Newly Bereaved Support Group, meeting from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursdays at Rifle Realty office, beginning March 19. High Country RSVP will sell spring daffodils for the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 13, only at City Market in Glenwood Springs.

Garfield County Department of Human Services is hosting a presentation about foster parenting, kinship care and adoption to families and anyone interested in learning more about this opportunity in our community from 5-7 p.m. March 12, at the Garfield County Department of Human Services building in Rifle, 195 W. 14th St., across from City Market. Anyone is welcome to attend. Help is needed for children and families who are struggling in Garfield County. Dinner and child care will be provided to those who RSVP to 625-5282, ext. 274.



Eat at White House Pizza in Carbondale from 4-10 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, and 10 percent of your bill will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.

The Roaring Fork Audubon March program will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. The topic of the program will be Lynx in Colorado, with a presentation by Liz Roberts, wildlife biologist for the White River National Forest. The public is welcome.

The Rifle Area chapter of Ducks Unlimited will host its annual fundraising banquet at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center, 0398 Arroyo Drive in Parachute.For more information, contact Chris Isgrig at (970) 285-6234 or John Chapman at (970) 285-7341.

Community garden volunteers will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12, by the computers at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Anyone who wants to participate on the steering committee is welcome and guaranteed a plot. If you would like a plot but cannot attend, call Jennifer at 945-9266.
