The Colorado River District is holding its annual Roaring Fork State of the River meeting 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the El Jebel Community Center.Water users, recreationists and citizens can learn how the water year is shaping up for the Frying Pan, Roaring Fork and Colorado rivers, as well as for Ruedi Reservoir.Presentations will be given by the state Division of Water Resources on local water conditions, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation on Ruedi Reservoir, Colorado Springs Utilities on Roaring Fork diversions to Twin Lakes, the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District on Frying Pan diversions to Turquoise Lake and the Colorado River District. The White River National Forest and the Forest Conservancy will be hosting a National Trails Day event at Hanging Lake trail in Glenwood Canyon on Saturday, June 3.Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. a variety of education stations and speakers, including Garfield Search and Rescue, Leave No Trace hiking and Woodsy Owl will be at the trailhead and along the trail up to the lake. There will also be a hiking gear demo by Summit Canyon Mountaineering.You may volunteer to work with the Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers on either of two work projects on the Sunnyside Trail off McClain Flats road near Aspen, or the Boy Scout/Forest Hollow trail near of Glenwood Springs. Tracys Day is a benefit concert for the daughters of Tracy McLain, who died last December in a tragic automobile accident. The event is a Celebration of Life Thru Music, and will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at the Aspen Community School in Woody Creek. The event will feature many local bands and celebrities, as well as a live auction hosted by Twirp Anderson and activities for kids of all ages. Tracys Day will be catered by Back Door Catering and the Woody Creek Tavern. Beer will be provided by the Flying Dog Brewery.
