The American Legion-Garfield County Post 83 of Glenwood Springs will hold its annual Memorial Day celebration on Monday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at Rosebud Cemetery. There will be the traditional raising and lowering of the U.S. flag by Scout Troop 225, a laying of wreaths by auxiliary members, a rifle Salute to the Dead by legion members and music tributes from local singers and trumpet players.In preparation of Memorial Day, 500 U.S. flags will be posted at the individual gravesites of veterans. Even with the assistance from scouts from Troop 225 and members of the Noon Rotarians, the American Legion always appreciates any additional support from the community.If interested in helping honor our fallen veterans, volunteers can meet at the brick building in Rosebud Cemetery at 4 p.m. Friday, May 22. Landon Churchill and The Academy of Dance and Gymnastics will be presenting their 10th annual Spring Showcase and Tarzan: The Ballet on May 28-29 at 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m., at Rifle Middle School, 753 Railroad Ave. Tickets, sold at the door, are $10 for adults, $8 for children under 12 and seniors, $8 for families of 4 or more, and children 5 and under are free.For more info, call Landon at 309-9531 or visit

Wewer Keohane will be signing her new book, Nightscapes, at the Book Train in Glenwood Springs on Friday, May 29, at 5 p.m.The author will be available to sign both her new book and her first book, Artful Dreaming.

All six branches Garfield County Public Library District will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. The libraries will resume normal hours Tuesday, May 26, at 10 a.m. Thank you for your continued support.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new public art to be displayed on Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs.Seven new pieces will be installed into the local landscape on May 28 and 29 as a part of the 2 Rivers Art Project.
