Carbondales American Legion Post 100 will lead the annual Memorial Day ceremony, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, May 25, with a 21-gun salute and short commemoration at Hillcrest Cemetery on White Hill.After that the ceremony will proceed to Evergreen Cemetery on Eighth Street, and then to the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Highway 133 at 9:45 a.m. for a final salute and tossing of a wreath into the Roaring Fork River.The bridge will be closed to traffic for a brief time during the last portion of the ceremony.

The American Legion-Garfield County Post 83 of Glenwood Springs will hold its annual Memorial Day celebration on Monday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at Rosebud Cemetery. There will be the traditional raising and lowering of the U.S. flag by Scout Troop 225, a laying of wreaths by auxiliary members, a rifle Salute to the Dead by legion members and music tributes from local singers and trumpet players.In preparation of Memorial Day, 500 U.S. flags will be posted at the individual gravesites of veterans. Even with the assistance from scouts from Troop 225 and members of the Noon Rotarians, the American Legion always appreciates any additional support from the community.Call Dan E. The Western Slope Stompers present its fourth annual recital, Stars in Motion A Night of Clogging. The dancers are boys and girls ranging in age from 4 to adult.
