Ursula Shepherd, from Valley Dog Rescue, is inviting everyone to come to a Dog Adoption Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Bank of Colorado parking lot in El Jebel (adjacent to City Market). Adorable puppies, young dogs and adult dogs will be up for adoption.

The Valley Cruisers Classic Car Club will be hosting a car show on Saturday at Sopris Park in Carbondale. Registration is from 8-10 a.m., and judging will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants have a chance to win dash plaques, awards and prizes. The event is co-sponsored by Alpine Bank, Aspen Earthmoving Trucking, Big Steves Towing, 4-Wheelers 4×4 Center, KJEB-FM 94.5, Valley Towing and Western Slope Paint Supply. The third annual Western Slope Poker Run, an all-day scenic road ride hosted by ABATE of Colorado, will take place on Saturday, June 10, departing from Aspen Valley Harley Davidson on Highway 82 in Glenwood Springs. Registration will be held from 9-10 a.m. ABATE is a nonprofit motorcycle rights organization dedicated to education, training and freedom of the road. Parenting Through Divorce is a four-hour class designed to equip parents with the skills to raise well-adjusted children, despite the challenges encountered through the process of divorce. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 10 at the Courthouse in Glenwood Springs. Preregistration is suggested. Call Tammy Perry at 963-1010.

Alpine Banks of Colorado invites customers and communities to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5. Customers and community members may stop into any of the 32 Alpine Bank locations on June 5 to enjoy refreshments, and those wearing green will receive an awareness gift for their observance and acknowledgement. Those wishing to recycle their unused, inactive cell phones can drop them off at their nearest location during the week of June 5, and Alpine Bank will cover recycling costs.Local environmental nonprofit groups will benefit from additional monies donated by Alpine Banks Environment Loyalty Check Card during the month of June. Alpine Bank will double the Environment Card transaction donations ($O.20 per transaction) during the month.



Wild Women, Wild Art and Wildly Entertaining!, the seventh annual Wild Women Exhibit, is coming to the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts. This summer the gallery will be full of very avant garde art from 14 valley artists. There will be a free reception at 6 p.m. Friday. Call 945-2414 for more information.
