Recent articles in the Post Independent on the city of Glenwood Springs Transit Operation Plan recommendations contained several points that need to be corrected or clarified.

First, the recommendations came not from the city’s Transportation Commission, but from a private consultant working with the city, with input from the commission.

Second, the Ride Glenwood bus service South Route, which is proposed for elimination, accounted for 7 percent of the overall system ridership up until 2005. That percentage has since decreased even further, representing about 3.8 percent of the total ridership as of 2009.

Third, the South Route is currently operated under contract between the city and a private operator, and not the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority. That contract is set to expire at the end of the year.

The Post Independent regrets any confusion this may have caused.
