Friday letters: Food Drive and commission candidate gratitude
New Castle’s Scouting For Food Drive says thank you
Once again, the local Cub Scouts with the help of adult and youth volunteers, the Coal Ridge Honors Society and Student Council went to every door in New Castle and dropped off 2,400 fliers regarding the upcoming Food Drive. It’s a big job and a special thank you to this group of volunteers and to our small community that has donated over 109,000 pounds of food to our local Lift-up over the past 14 years. It is by far and away the largest food drive on the Western Slope. This year we hope to match last year’s efforts and collect 9,000 pounds of food. The volunteers will be going door to door looking for your donation on Saturday November 9th. Please put your donation in a very visible spot on your porch before 11am. Additionally, you can drop off donations at City Market until November 17th.

This role is more than just a position—it’s a commitment to work tirelessly for the community that has given so much to me and my family. I am proud to be part of Garfield County and to serve as a humble steward of our shared future.
Together, we will face challenges, seize opportunities, and continue making Garfield County a place we’re proud to call home. My door will always be open because this work is about all of us, and I’m here for you.
Thank you again for your trust and support. Let’s get to work and make our community stronger, together.
