Calling all photographers.

Some people call them shutterbugs, but to me, that sounds like a frightened insect. I prefer the term photog. Yet another odd word, but we want as many photographs from area photogs as possible.

It’s time for the Post Independent’s “A Day in the Life of Garfield County” edition.

This section belongs to the photogs of the area. This is your chance to grab your camera and capture a photo in Garfield County. A landscape, a portrait, a cute puppy, an adorable baby, a resident having a cup of coffee … This section is exactly what it says it is ” a day in the life of Garfield County.

The day that we are asking you to capture with your cameras is this coming Thursday. All day, 24 hours, happenings in Garfield County. Click away and have fun. Then send us your photos, and we’ll choose which ones best illustrate a day in the life of Garfield County.

And don’t forget those middle-of-the-night or early morning shots ” a day in the life means the entire day and night.

Seeing your photo in print is really a special thing. So plan to put that camera to work on Thursday.

Here are a few ground rules. First and foremost ” the shoot day is Thursday. Information needed: time photo was taken; name of the photog; if you have people in the photo, include their names; and where the photo was taken. That’s it.

Then send your photos to the PI. Mail or drop off at 2014 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. Photos can also be dropped off at the Valley Journal office at 467 Main St. in Carbondale or at the Citizen Telegram at 132 E. Third St. in Rifle. E-mail to news@postindependent.com.

Send digital photos or prints. Submission deadline is Friday, Sept. 16, and then check out Thursday, Sept. 29, to see which photos make the cut.

Thursday, photogs, Thursday is the day to capture a day in the life of Garfield County. Have fun and send us your photos.
