The Canyon Club in New Castle hosts a Halloween party at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Best costume award, trivia prizes, drink specials, ghoulish fun.

A Halloween party will be held at the Black Nugget in Carbondale from 9 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, Oct. 31. The valleys newest band, the Redtones, will entertain.

Did you know the library just might be one of the scariest places to be on Halloween? Teens 12-18 years old are invited to a Halloween Party from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. Come in costume, play games and dance to DJ music, courtesy of Two Rivers Productions. Grab a piece of pizza, win a prize for your costume, and treat yourself to an awesome Halloween. The library is at 413 Ninth St., and more information is available at 945-5958.

A Family Fun Festival, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church in Rifle and Faith Fellowship in Rifle will be held from 6-9 p.m. Oct 31 in the indoor arena of the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle.Free admission, with games, candy, prizes and food.For more information, call 625-0248.

Its time for some freaky fun at the biggest Halloween party in town. Its the Bighorn Toyota and Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreations Spooktacular Halloween Carnival, from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.The communitywide effort is sponsored by several local businesses, produced by the Glenwood Springs Parks & Recreation Department, in conjunction with the EPYCS Group, the Future Business Leaders of America, the Latino Club, the Lady Demon basketball team and the Glenwood Skate Park Association. Carnival games will be available for big and little kids, costume contests for all ages, the famous Spook Alley haunted house, a Castle Bounce and inflatable obstacle course, climb for the cache contest, a Dive-in Movie in the pool (dont forget your swim suit), open skate at the Ice Rink and a whole lot more. Tickets for the carnival games and other events can be purchased at the event or will be available for presale at the Community Center Front Desk. All proceeds help to cover event costs and benefit the youth groups fundraising efforts.

There will be a Trick or Treat Street for children infants through sixth grade from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center. The fun includes a cakewalk, costume contest and treats. Admission is $1 per child. For more information, call the activity center at 285-9480.

Burning Mountains Fire Department wants to give back to the community, and will be hosting its inaugural Halloween Haunted House from 4:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Station No. 1, at 611 Main St. in Silt. Kids of all ages are invited, free of charge.The festivities will include a haunted house, Halloween treats, witches brew and goodie bags.

Bring carved pumpkin masterpieces to Dancing Colours, 968 Main St., Carbondale, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Halloween Day. Judging begins at 6 p.m.The Pumpkin Carving Contest has three categories: kids younger than 12, teens/adults and teams. All kids younger than 12 win prizes. A fundraiser for Animal Rescue foundation will begin at 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at Phat Thai Restaurant in Carbondale. Prizes for the best costume, 21 and older with valid identification. Call 963-7001 for more information.
