Letter: History lessons

I enjoyed Fred Stewart’s trip back in history in the Feb. 14 issue of the PI, and the part about our Police Chief Mark Burnett parking in front of Dever Jewelry, presumably to catch speeders, especially caught my eye.

But here is the rest of the story:

Dever Jewelry was located at 731 Grand Ave., and my father and I owned the building at 729 Grand (The Daily Bread). We had an apartment upstairs which we rented out — and guess who our renter was?

Yes, Mark Burnett and his wife.

So while Glenwood’s one and only police car was parked in front of that address so many times, it was not because Mark was trying to catch speeders. He was probably at home enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Keep those history lessons coming.
