We are in the process of building a bat house, and have been encouraging others to do so. In the long run, it is the most logical, and ecological, solution to mosquito control. The plans are simple, and free on the Internet. There are also numerous sites that will sell you a completed bat house. Bats are not evil little creatures. Mosquitoes are. Besides that, we are using repellent containing DEET, and simply being aware at dusk. (I haven’t seen an early morning in years!)

Umm … well, nothing. West Nile virus is right up there with shark attacks and getting struck by lightning on my radar. The day-to-day odds of my getting hit by a truck are greater than the odds of my being struck down by West Nile.
