Letter: 112 rejection thanks
This letter is a quick thank-you to the Coloradans who rejected the fear-based rhetoric of Proposition 112 and chose prosperity. This was positioned as a question of health and safety versus the economy, but voters saw through that false dichotomy, which is reassuring.
I believe in the process Colorado has in place, which is built on listening, collaboration and compromise. We’ve demonstrated those values over and over again, particularly here on the Western Slope as we’ve seen the ebbs and flows of the industry.
We sit poised on great opportunity, and we can realize that opportunity thanks to rejecting measures like Proposition 112. My hope is that we’ve put misguided notions like this to bed for good, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
In the meantime, it’s really incumbent upon us all to continue the dialogue, build toward solutions, and reject out-of-state interests who want to end oil.
