Letter: Alive thanks to Obamacare
Jane Spaulding wrote that it seemed “rather odd” that before Obamacare, everyone could afford the insurance and health care they needed. May be it seems “odd” because it’s not true. Plenty of people working two or more part-time jobs had no insurance through their employers, and could not afford the care they needed if they had a health emergency, such as a diagnosis of cancer.
Thanks to Obamacare, Medicaid was extended to cover the treatment I needed. Jane says I’m “no better off.” I beg to differ. I am alive, and I am grateful to Obamacare every day of my life.
