Letter: As time goes by at Riviera

I congratulate Jon Gorst, former music tour director of the Broadway productions “Cats” and “The Phantom of the Opera,” on his plan to purchase the Riviera Supper Club and his vision of an old-fashioned piano bar of the 1940s.

A hint of nostalgia touched me as I envision Jon quietly seated at his classic upright. A teary eyed lady that resembled a young Ingrid Bergman approaches and whispers “play it again Sam.”

Jon, holding back a tear, begins with an ever so soft touch of the keyboard. We instantly recognize this classic song, with words never to be forgotten: “You must remember this, A kiss is still a kiss, A sigh is still a sigh, The fundamental things apply as time goes by … The world will always welcome lovers as time goes by.”

Jon, play it again.
