Letter: Bushong sending teens to study D-Day beaches

A Wall Street Journal editorial on Friday related to The Longest Day — D-Day, says: “American teens might study history if they saw Omaha Beach.” And “Perhaps American philanthropists could send young Americans to Normandy to see the D-Day beaches and American war cemeteries.”

Well guess what! Our own Paul Bushong from Carbondale, with the aid of Aspen Community Foundation, has been doing this for two years, and this summer he will send a third group of Valley teenagers, totaling more than 30, to see the D-Day beaches and report to local groups like Rotary and Kiwanis, as well as to fellow students, on their experience.

Thanks to Paul Bushong for beating the Wall Street Journal to the punch.
