Letter: Concealed carry on campus

I must respond to the Aug. 16 front page article “CMC active shooter drill trains 1st responders: The public expects us to be prepared,” reported by Will Grandbois.

Frankly, I am amazed at the lack of imagination by our so-called “experts.” Have they lost their collective minds? Or perhaps they have lost the will to live, for surely they don’t know what self-defense means. And for all their well-intentioned good deeds, across the world we see the same scenarios playing out. Why? You tell me.

Why has there been no suggestion of making good use of common sense, i.e. the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and concealed carry by school personnel instead of a defeatist attitude that only guarantees a less-than-ideal outcome?

An ideal outcome would be one where the psychopathic murderer(s) would definitely think twice about where he (or she) might decide to carry out their unforgivable deed. Or, if the nutcase(s) attempted such a deed, they would be met with swift justice. Think about it. Live or die? It’s your choice. What kind of life do you want for your family and your country? “An armed society is a polite society.”
