Letter: Delayed apology
Lavonne and I recently received an extraordinary letter in the mail. The sending address on the envelope had no name, only “Apology Lane – Glenwood Springs, CO.”
There was not even a name for the addressee, just our address. It was a lengthy apology from a “teenager who panicked” a number of years ago while turning around in the dark of night in our driveway as the “stick shift car” lurched into our landscaping. In the recounting of this lengthy story he or she wrote; “please accept this money to pay for damages — and I apologize for the time it has taken me to send it.” Enclosed was a $100 bill!
We’re making a donation of $400 to YouthZone on behalf of this exceptional “teenager” from years past, because it’s so important for others to know of such an uplifting response and to acknowledge your leadership and support of our youth.
