Letter: Downtown beautification
On behalf of the Glenwood Springs Garden Club, we would like to express our appreciation to the Downtown Development Authority and the City Council for their support of our efforts to address beautification of our downtown by replacing and upgrading downtown flower pots and their plantings.
When we presented our vision to the DDA, we were happy with the enthusiastic support for this project and impressed with the diligent follow-up by DDA and city staff, all of whom provide their civic services with minimal resources. In particular, we would like to acknowledge the expertise and hard work of Leslie Bethel, Al Laurette and Staci Andrassy. In addition, Adam Juul from Mountain Valley Development Greenhouses has been instrumental in the selection and growing of the flowers.
As the bridge project comes into fruition and the confluence area plan is implemented, the city is transitioning into a period of exciting new opportunities. We encourage both city officials and downtown businesses to continue their beautification efforts with particular attention to flowers and plantings. These efforts will provide significant benefits in improving the experience for visitors and residents.
