Letter: Enough pouting and gloating

Wow, I don’t know if I should laugh, cry or promote a cage fight between Post Independent letter writers Doug Meyers and JM Jesse. Two days post-election and side by side are their two antithetical missives full of hatred and vitriol, one in victory and the other in defeat.

Do they not understand that millions of good Americans voted on each side? My father voted for Trump, I did not. I strongly disagree with his reasoning, and he mine. And yet we don’t love or respect each other any less.

It seems the lunatic fringe on each side provides all the headlines but the truth always rests somewhere in the middle. So enough with the pouting, gloating and anger. Our country often thrives in spite of its leadership, not because of it.

That said, I would love nothing more than to say in the future I was wrong about Trump. Time will tell. Until then, I’ll turn a deaf ear to the hate and to Chicken Little. Let’s move forward.
