Letter: Fact checking

Mr. Bryan Ramsey’s letter to the editor April 23 correctly quotes from an engineer’s lecture on climate change: “An average annual sea level rise over the past 100 years (italics added) of just 1.8 mm per year.” Later, in the same lecture, the engineer said: “By 2050 (italics added), we would expect the present 100-year flood to occur once on the average every three years. … About 16 inches of sea level rise over the next 100 years. These are often considered somewhat conservative scenarios. Stefan Rahmstorf thought we could have as much as over a meter in the next 100 years.”
