Letter: Fireworks are scaring animals

I for one am so disappointed that there are fireworks here in New Castle. Glenwood does a successful laser show and no animals were scared, and there were no fires. Whoever said fireworks were part of our heritage? The cost of putting one of these shows on could go to fixing our roads or helping the homeless. Come on people, once you have seen a fireworks show, you’ve seen them all. Some people say it is for the kids, but what about their hearing? There are silent fireworks shows. My main concern is scaring all the animals, and dogs especially can’t tolerate it. Please put your dog in a safe room with the TV on and maybe they won’t find a way out.
