Letter: Fix Colorado Ave. parking

I am writing to support the opinion of Patty Grace in the Sept. 17 Post Independent on the parking situation on Colorado Avenue.

Although diagonal parking may not be the perfect solution, it’s the only one left. The city created this mess; now officials need to resort to their last possible solution. It won’t cost anything and will take five minutes to implement. Try it for six months and see if it helps, if it doesn’t, switch it back.

They allowed the Adducci complex to be built, housing 20 or more people with almost no off-street parking. Same goes for the hostel, zero parking for guests. Same for the B&B behind Adducci’s, the duplex behind 7-11, on and on and on. The “Pink Palace” recently expanded a second time and, again, 20 people, zero parking. The city has allowed half of the houses in this neighborhood to turn into some kind of multifamily unit with almost none of them offering off-street parking.

I invite any city official to stop by one afternoon at the 5 p.m. parking rush hour, and we’ll be happy to give you a tour.
