Letter: Immigration system not broken

In her Feb. 24 guest opinion, Rachel Ophoff, good Christian at large, is indeed being naively romantic about the Statue of Liberty’s promise to the world’s poor and wanting. Our immigration system is not broken; we allow more than a million legal immigrants to become citizens every year.

As for Rachel’s assertion of political sabotage, I guess the best example of that is what Hillary and Co. did to Bernie Sanders. Furthermore, what Latinos in the valley support is the ultra-rich upvalley ability to pay non-living wages without benefits to people whose children burden downvalley schools.

And Rachel, when they come for your immigrant buddies, I will be standing with my fellow American citizens defending our sovereignty and calling for justice.
