Letter: Impact on teachers
The article in the May 28 Post Independent regarding the Re-1 school district was one-sided. It says nothing about the anxiety our teachers are facing over job uncertainties and/or losing their jobs, or the lack of compassion on the side of the school district.
I suggest you try addressing the human side. For example, a teacher who was displaced by the district who now has to leave the valley and uproot her children. Or a teacher who has been with the district on and off for over 20 years, but because of a decision to teach in a developing country for a year cannot have retirement benefits.
This issue isn’t as cut and dried as you make it seem. Many lives have been shaken by a district that can no longer be trusted by those who have invested their lives to help our children.
