Letter: Ingraham has a sincere interest in community

This letter is written support of Jim Ingraham for City Council at-large. I’ve known Jim for some time, plus worked with him on many of the Glenwood Springs Rotary Club’s projects. Jim has a huge business and accounting background and we as citizens should be thankful somebody with these qualifications is trying to get on Council. I think Jim has already changed the way the city goes about their bidding process and will save us more money in the future. The other thing I can say is Jim has a sincere interest in this community and wants to make it better, which means he really wants the job.

I’ve also watched the way Jim treats people outside our club and he does it with respect and caring about the person, plus he’s also willing to listen and admit they may have a better idea if that is really the case.

The final comment I would make is, that I don’t agree with Jim in his support of the 3/4-cent street tax. I remember a few years back when the city asked the citizens to renew that tax because it had a sunset clause in it and they said that if it was renewed for the 1/2-cent previously approved that they would continue to work on street improvement. I am not sure where the money went, but in my opinion it doesn’t appear to have gone into street repair, or reconstruction as it did previously. So I would say give me back the 1/2-cent tax and I’ll support the 3/4-cent, or I’ll add a 1/4-cent to what you already have.

John Haines,

Glenwood Springs
