Letter: Jankovsky deserves re-election
I’m writing on behalf of the GlenX community and many of the businesses who have become a part of our entrepreneurial ecosystem in the last year to strongly voice our support for Tom Jankovsky in his bid for re-election for Garfield County Commissioner.
Tom has been the first public official to join us as we build public/private partnerships around economic development for the Roaring Fork Valley and Garfield County. He has sat in on countless meetings and attended numerous events over the last few years to show his support for local businesses and entrepreneurs. He has both listened and provided strategy on how to best support Garfield County’s core markets while exploring economic diversity that could help insure a stable economy in the years to come.
Tom has been a friend to both new and established businesses from the day he set foot in office and has remained committed to helping our business community navigate the changing landscape of rural economic development.
Tom’s extensive experience at the helm of Sunlight ski area and his contributions to helping grow the tourism economy over the last couple of decades should be clearly noted as the debate of ideas continues up to election day.
Tom understands the needs of local businesses in a way few politicians do. He has helped build one of the flagship enterprises of Garfield County and understands the day-to-day challenges businesses face.
Tom was inducted into the Ski Hall of Fame several years ago for his decades-long contribution to the ski industry, specifically Sunlight. That honor is rarely given out to business professionals. The fact that Tom received it not only speaks to his commitment, but also his integrity and his capacity to lead.
Regardless of one’s political ideology, there is much to be said for commitment, integrity and leadership. Tom Jankovsky has been a dedicated public servant since he took office. We want to see him continue to do the important work to support economic growth that is thoughtful, strategic and mindful of the future. We are proud to support Tom for his re-election bid this November.
