Letter: Kaup for council at large
My love for this city has prompted me to run for the City Council at-large seat. I am an independent thinker and a good listener, whose main focus is the health and prosperity of Glenwood Springs for all its residents.
While on City Council from 2007-2011, I developed the skills to help achieve community goals. During that time we initiated several key improvements, including keeping the library and CMC central services downtown, building the new wastewater plant, reorganizing the leadership of the Downtown Development Authority, empowering a community garden and constructing the final stretch of the River Trail along the Roaring Fork.
Now we look to the future of our city. Soon we will have a new bridge and entrance to downtown. We still need to build the South Bridge, and we also need to pay attention to the quality of life in our community.
What does that mean to you? I am excited to work with the community on our future. My leadership skills, experience and knowledge allow me to lead the city in finding the best solutions to maintain our beautiful community. I will work for a strong business economy, lasting solutions for housing, and good maintenance of our streets and sidewalks. I have heard the community’s call for in town recycling services, protection of our neighborhoods from traffic impacts, clean healthy rivers, more park & court space and affordable modern electric with increased renewable energy. Let’s work on lasting solutions.
I bring a passion for the City — its unique neighborhoods, local businesses and history — let’s build our future together.
