Letter: Loss at Silt library

I would like to let the library district know what it has done to this community, by letting a pillar of it go.

Every child in this community has grown up knowing Melissa as the kindest person to ever work for the Silt library. The way she was always committed to helping anyone who needed anything from a job to materials. I have witnessed many children and adults meandering around till she was able to help them, especially the young Hispanic children.

Melissa has always been around books; she worked at a book store when we met. I have personally spent many years volunteering cleaning and repairing what was wrong with the former building. I even became an employee while she had our children so you would have someone you trusted.

This is a giant slap in the face to the Silt community and my family, all of whom have been dedicated to this library district. You have destroyed the livelihood of a person dedicated to her work and community. This administration may never recover from the way it has turned into a cold-hearted group that could care less about the people in it.

Former administrators would have never treated committed, dedicated and experienced people this way. They had much more respect for the community and people in it. We have much respect for the former administration but none for what it has become. May God help you do a better, more respectful job in the future.
