Letter: Magnetic power pole

The owners, management and staff at Apple Tree Park want to let the crew of Xcel Energy know how much we appreciate them for the incredible job they did two weekends in a row replacing the power pole on County Road 335.

This pole seems to have some kind of magnetic attraction for intoxicated drivers. Both times the Xcel crew worked through the night with wind, rain, thunder and lightning. Thank you very much for your dedication to restore the power in our community.

We considered putting a “Don’t hit me” sign on the pole, but decided folks who seem to have an issue with it more than likely would not take the time to read it. A solution could be a guardrail. Maybe the county would give that some thought, before the power pole gets even with some haphazard driver and their family gets to plan for a funeral.
