Letter: No to Sanders independent bid

I have to reply to Randy Fricke’s column. If Bernie Sanders were to run as an independent it would almost guarantee the Republican-who-shall-not-be-named would win. Although I truly respect Mr. Sanders and all he stands for, the primaries have shown he probably wouldn’t defeat Clinton. He has enough loyal followers, however, who would vote for him as an independent rather than Clinton to risk Clinton getting less votes than you-know-who.

I realize I’m dreaming, but I think the wisest thing the Democratic Party could do is to have Clinton choose Sanders as a running mate, to both boost her popularity and keep Sanders from running as an independent.
