Letter: Parents for Willman

Our friend and daughter’s mentor, Charlie Willman, is a candidate for the at-large Glenwood Springs City Council position. Charlie is not only a great attorney but a fabulous GSHS Mock Trial Coach, as well. Charlie has devoted so much of his time and attention to a countless number of teenagers over the past 10-plus years. He has lead his team to many state of Colorado championships and is very well respected. He has coached our daughter, Chandler, for three years, and their team just placed in second in the Colorado High School State Mock Trial Tournament.

Her life as a high school student has been truly changed by this amazing man and the attention he gives the mock trial program. She wants to continue mock trial in college and pursue law school after her undergraduate degree. This is a result of the encouragement and lessons that Charlie has given her. The gift that he so graciously bestows on these kids daily is amazing. He listens to each of them when they have an opinion different from him, and many times changes the course of the mock trial as a result of their input.

Charlie is respectful of every single student he coaches, and I know he would carry this respect over to the job of city councilman. In addition, I can only imagine the time and attention he would bestow upon the job as Glenwood Springs council. He would be awesome in this position.
