Letter: Red Flag law is not for Garfield County

Our nation is in a time where the small individual is being squashed with outrageous policies and regulations, and liberty is beginning to suffocate. HB19-1177 is just another example of our Constitution slowly chipping away only to be rewritten for the selfish interest of corrupt politicians. I’m hopeful to believe my county commissioners would also agree HB19-1177 has no place in Garfield County. We need to encourage Sheriff Vallario to make Garfield County a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary following the 12 Colorado counties who have already taken a stand for the rights of their citizens. These sanctuary counties are passing resolutions stating that no funding will be used to enforce unconstitutional laws and that the sheriff will uphold his oath to the constitution instead of enforcing laws that violate the Second Amendment.
Keeping this nation preserved and free is a team effort and I believe it’s a fight worth fighting. Taking away the right to own a firearm is only the tip of the iceberg, HB19-1177 jeopardizes the safety of our law officers and the safety of the citizens. HB19-1177 gives another opportunity for legislative power to mute the individual, we cannot sit and watch our Constitution erode away inch by inch. Garfield County will not tolerate the theft of our rights. Let’s keep the small individual loud.

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
— John F. Kennedy
