Letter: Schwartz can’t decide big issue

It is troubling that the Durango Herald quoted former state Sen. Gail Schwartz saying she did not have a stance on Amendment 69. Election day is just over a week away and she has not made up her mind on the most important economic issue facing our state right now?

This should be a huge red flag for all voters. This ballot measure would cost Colorado $36 billion, and nonpartisan research groups have projected massive annual deficits, despite huge tax increases.

Coloradocare would be a disaster for Colorado, something most Democratic politicians have had the courage to admit. Sen. Schwartz should stop playing politics, do her homework, and take a stance on Amendment 69. This is our civic duty as Coloradans and the fact she wants us to elect her to Congress when she can’t even make up her mind on a ballot measure is laughable.

The people of Colorado deserve better and that is why I am voting for Scott Tipton for Congress.
