Letter: Schwartz’s awful record

Our congressional race seems like a pretty clear choice to me. Our incumbent Scott Tipton, a constitutional conservative committed to limited government and job growth, is up against Gail Schwartz, a big government liberal with a terrible record as a state senator.

I’ve listened to the audio from the Club 20 debates and I heard Gail Schwartz continually defend Obamacare. With rates skyrocketing, I do not see how she can be blind to the damage it is causing in Colorado. The Denver Post reported that premiums could rise 40 percent in rural areas and 14 counties will have only a single health insurance provider.

I’m not a health-care professional, but that doesn’t sound to me like a system that is functioning properly. It has gotten so out of control that even Bill Clinton has publicly called it “crazy.”

As a state senator, she sponsored laws increasing our renewable energy standard that caused our utility rates to go up and put coal miners out of work. Those miners were people she had been elected to represent.

She supports a health-insurance plan that raised our health costs and sponsored laws that killed jobs while also raising our electrical bills. With such an awful record in the state Senate, why should we elect her to Congress?

Scott Tipton has been in Congress and has sponsored bills on everything form water rights protection to common sense financial regulation. We know he can get the job done. Let’s not roll the dice on Gail Schwartz.
