Letter: Show support for emergency services
I’m writing on behalf of ballot issue 2A in the City of Glenwood and 6B in the Glenwood Springs Rural Fire Protection District.
Once again, we are presented with many important ballot issues this year. I can’t think of any more important than the support of such vital services as the fire department and emergency medical services.
The fire department is asking the citizenry to approve the renewal of an existing tax to maintain funding for emergency fire and medical services. A “yes” vote is essential to maintain current levels of fire protection, replace equipment and help keep our department facilities and technology current.
A recent survey conducted by the city came back overwhelmingly “satisfied” with the fire department and its operations. Now is the time to show your support and keep our emergency services at a level we all deserve. Call volumes are up, and wildland fire hazards are increasing. We must stay on top of the demand.
Our tourists who visit our town help pay their share through sales tax when they eat, sleep and enjoy our town. As property owners we also need to do our share. Please join me in voting YES for these ballot issues. Help keep our citizens and those who visit our town safe.
Start a dialogue, stay on topic and be civil.
