Letter: Silt Habitat applications

Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for our next two homeowner families in Silt. Our homeownership program empowers families to build a new life for themselves through the stability and security of owning their own home. For more than 15 years Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley has been building homes for local families in need of a hand-up, not a hand-out. We are looking for families that due to various circumstances cannot obtain conventional financing for a home — this can be due to various circumstances including low income and credit issues.

Here are some of the basic requirements:

Willingness to partner: Families must complete 250 hours per applicant on the construction of their home and the homes of other families.

Need for Housing: Families must currently live in substandard, crowded or unaffordable housing, or housing that for some reason does not meet the needs of the family. They cannot have owned a home in the last three years.

Income: Our current range is $25,000-$57,000 per year.

Residency: You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States. You must have lived or worked in our service area, which includes Aspen to Parachute for the last 12 months.

Full applications must be returned by Aug. 4. Applicants can find pre-applications and more information on our website at habitatroaringfork.org. Full applications are available after the pre-application is returned and approved.
