I would like to recognize our local Garfield County CSU Extension office and the 4-H Americorps STEM programs. Carla Farrand is an amazing extension agent who has been influential in bringing successful programming to our valley. We have provided programming after school for all three school districts. We have had classes in Parachute, Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs and Basalt, in addition to programming in most of the libraries in Garfield County.

Right now we have programs going throughout the valley and would like to get information out to our community about these wonderful programs available to families. We have classes every weekday right now. We have special STEM Camp coming on July 6 for which we teamed up with New Castle Recreation Department. Camp includes special guest Barb Shaw who will be sharing her scientific adventures and knowledge with any children ages 8 and up that sign up for our ooey gooey science and bing bang chemistry camp.

We have a special mother/daughter spa chemistry camp being put on with our service member Meaghan Owens, in addition to other classes she is working on. Plus, in conjunction with the libraries, I am hosting cooking science events throughout the summer and several free classes with BookCliffs Art Center in Rifle. Michael Capraro has teamed up with Accessnow and New Castle rec for some of his classes, including Sound Production and Elements of the Earth.

Our office also has a new 4-H STEM personnel Kaycee Manupella.
