Letter: Teacher appreciation

As a volunteer for Glenwood Elementary School and parent of a Glenwood Springs Middle School teacher, I have observed firsthand how fortunate we are to have such excellent teachers in our schools.

They work long hours, as their day starts before 8 a.m. and often lasts hours into the evening with grading papers, making lesson plans, attending seminars, conducting parent teacher conferences, etc.

Anyone who questions that they have long summer vacations or holidays has not spent a day in the schools and seen their constant work and devotion to the children. I challenge you to volunteer just a couple of hours a week. The children love having adults in the classroom, and believe me, you will learn a lot (math, grammar, etc.) and enjoy the experience.
