Letter: The ultimate incumbent

The stink rising from this year’s presidential campaign reminds me of the old joke about the boy who wanted a pony for Christmas but didn’t get one. As the story goes, his dad later found him in the barn furiously shoveling manure and asked the kid what in the world he was doing. He said, “Somewhere in all this horsecrap I know there’s got to be a pony.”

During this crazy election, I’m confident of only one thing — God is still on His throne, and He is sovereign over all, including our messy democracy and human failings.
