Jeffrene will be missed
What? Jeffrene was “let go” from her job at the LIFT-UP store in Rifle? For 20 years I have visited that store as a regular customer, and Jeff has always been a huge part of why I have.
I enjoyed her drive and loyalty to an industry that cannot function without the dedication of those who believe in its cause — helping others in need. As we all watch the media move toward popularizing the thrift store shopping experience, we, in turn, experience the onslaught of competing thrift stores popping up all over.
I believe the need to stay competitive “price wise” kind of takes the “Thrift” out of the initial intent of the thrift store industry. I, for one, am very sorry to see these changes hitting so close to home. Ouch! I doubt I can afford to shop there anymore.
I also have a few questions I’d love to clear up. My first question is why is this store called “Jackie’s, A Lift Up Store”? Who is Jackie, and why am I donating to him/her? Am I donating my goods to a separate entity, or am I being deceived into believing my contributions are going to the needy? What is a nonprofit for-profit supposed to mean anyway?
How do I sign off on this letter without thanking Jeffrene for her years of dedicated service and to tell her just how much she will be missed? Jeff, you have been a pleasure to do business with — LIFT-UP will never be the same with out you.
