Letter: Advocate Safehouse gratitude

Julie Olson
Executive director, Advocate Safehouse Project

I want to give many thanks to Nettie Avery from Glenwood Insurance Agency who took the time to write a grant to Safeco Insurance on behalf of Advocate Safehouse Project this year. The result is Advocate Safehouse Project is to receive a $3,000 grant shortly.

I also want to thank the many community members and friends who supported us in the Safeco Insurance “Make More Happen Contest” for the past three weeks. With their help, Advocate Safehouse Project and Glenwood Insurance Agency placed 13th with 1,115 votes. A bonus $500 was awarded in addition to the initial grant of $3,000 because the overall votes exceeded 28,000. The top winners were from urban areas, and I am very proud that we placed 13th among 33 organizations throughout the United States.

Thank you to all who voted for us and believing in our cause to promote healthy relationships free from violence through education, advocacy, empowerment and safehousing.

As Thanksgiving approaches I know I have a lot to be thankful for and you, our community, are definitely one of the many things.

Many thanks again, to Nettie Avery, Glenwood Insurance Agency, Safeco Insurance and you.
