Letter: America must remain free

Our country must remain free so that our children will have a better life. How do we accomplish this … it’s really simple, get our bloated government off our backs, our property, our guns, our family life and our health care.

In 1958, when I went into the Army. I, like millions of other Americans, took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the U.S. against all enemies foreign and domestic. That oath never expires.

All men are created equal with God-given inalienable rights … life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. When property rights are infringed and/or the free market is no longer free, or when a government dictates your economic destiny, or the fate of unborn children, or attacks our Second Amendment rights, the basic right to protect ourselves, or when the government influences our local schools by forcing lesson plans that indoctrinate rather than educate, our government has gone too far. In my opinion, that’s where we are now.

Remember, we’re all Americans regardless of any distinguished characteristic. Let’s get it together and unite. Basically, we want good affordable health care, the best for our families, plentiful food supply, a roof over our heads, a good job that will pay the bills and leave us with a few extra bucks in our pockets, you know a day’s pay for a day’s work. We all want high self-esteem. That’s what gets us up in the morning.

Our current overbloated government with its overwhelming social programs has destroyed us right down to our core. It has divided our country in two. It’s got to stop or we’re all doomed.

The only weapon we have is our vote. We must remove those individuals from office regardless of their party affiliation that do not have our best interests in mind. Let’s fire those that are self-serving. Who are they you ask.? That’s for you to decide. Get yourself educated. We all have some skin in this particular game.
