Letter: Bike riders: Follow the rules

I was on my way to Glenwood the other day and cars had to stop at the CMC turnoff with the traffic light.

I thought it was against the law for bike riders to ignore the laws of the road. This bike rider wasn’t on the bike path, he was on Highway 82 and riding on the side of the road. Why have we spent millions of dollars on a bike path that gives this rider the arrogance to ride the road and have people pull around him?

This bike rider never braked, he never stopped; he went through the red light. This is how bike riders get a bad reputation. Fortunately for him, none of the cars were going straight through the light and up the hill to CMC or elsewhere close by. He could have caused a wreck for no apparent reason other than he disobeyed the traffic light and the cars were all turning and heading towards Glenwood.

Shame on this bike rider, for being on the highway to start with and not being on the bike path and for going through the red light. So what do you tell your kids when they see this happening? Bike riders are doing the same thing on Highway 133. There is a bike path up to the BRB. After that, yes, you do have to ride the road.

Not the middle of the road, but on the side and single file. Just thought maybe the bike riding rules need to be put in print again.
