LETTER: Boyle’s letter was over the line

Like many of your readers, I enjoy the letters section. It’s a valuable community space and it supports a great diversity of views.

But I think you should exercise your discretion in order to keep the discussion constructive. Per your paper’s own policy — “letters … containing personal attacks will not be printed” — you should not have published Robert W. Boyle’s Feb. 17 letter, “McConnell twists the truth again.” It was way over the line.

Whether we’re on the left or the right, I think we should express our views with respect and let our arguments stand on their merits.
