Letter: Bus union should go after Hock
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1774 better make this Tom Hock’s Waterloo because the headline “Union fears RFTA hiring of negotiator” is not what unionists like or expect to read in any periodical.
This is a very peculiar sentence: “Hock’s company, Transdev North America, formerly Veolia Transportation, echoed that.”
Veolia is a French company with contracted bus transit routes in different cities of our American republic. It has Metro bus routes in Los Angeles and RTD bus routes in Denver.
In recent years its Los Angeles transit route drivers unionized while its Denver RTD bus drivers may still be non-union drivers.
The New York City Metropolitan Area is the biggest union hub in union numbers and memberships in America. Hock knows what would happen to him there, so be like the New York unionists, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1774 President Ed Cortez: Educate your members, gain support from other unions in this area and throughout the state of Colorado and, if need be, strike.
Mr. Cortez, regarding Hock: Go get him.
