Letter: ‘By the people’ — not outsiders

As requested by some concerned Americans, my wife and I separately called the U.S. Capitol to express our concerns with regard to our government inviting Syrian refugees into our country.

My wife’s thoughts are that with all that is going on in the world and the problems facing us in our own country, it would seem that almost half of our citizens are on food stamps, a large number are without jobs and we are discussing sending back people that have crossed our Southern border illegally, etc., that is why she made the call to Washington.

What encouraged me to follow up on that call was merely the fact that various polls have indicated that we do not want to take any more immigrants into our country, especially Muslims. Different polls have shown between 65 and 80 percent of “we the people” do not want Washington to invite any of the Syrian refugees into our country.

So what more is needed? Any congressman or woman who votes to allow this to happen should be impeached.

“By the people and for the people” does not include outsiders. Do not allow our politicians to do what they prefer or what they think is best for us without our approval. The number that we called to voice our opinion is 1-202-224-3121.

If you believe that 99.8 percent of the Muslims are good people with love for everyone, you had better start reading and thinking. Even merely 2 tenths of 1 percent equals millions of people who hate us.
