Letter: Carbon tax = triple win

For those who have yet to cast their Carbondale ballots, please remember that the deadline of April 5 is coming quickly. I hope that voters will support 2A, the fee on utility bills to fund energy efficiency and renewable energy generation.

For several years Carbondale has been able to fund home and building retrofits and clean energy generation through mineral severance funds that are disappearing. The work to date has proven to reduce carbon emissions by 5 percent, saved money on energy bills and helped build a stronger, greener economy in town. Win, win, win!

A replacement funding source is needed to continue these proven programs and the ballot asks Carbondale voters to approve a six-year fee on utility bills that will allow progress to continue. Please vote for 2A to continue making a more efficient, greener, and economically healthy community.
