Letter: Child abuse hotline

I’m reaching out on behalf of my client, the Colorado Department of Human Services regarding your article of Dec. 12 regarding Baby Sarah. As you may be aware, the CDHS launched a statewide hotline for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect last January. That number is 1-844-CO-4-KIDS.

Please provide information about the hotline to help us raise awareness for this critical resource. A few related points:

• Everyone in the community plays a role in preventing child abuse and neglect.

• Colorado has a statewide hotline for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. The phone number is 1-844-CO-4-KIDS.

• The hotline provides one easy-to-remember phone number for individuals to use to report suspected child abuse and neglect. All hotline calls are routed to the county where a child resides.

• The hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

People don’t have to know for certain that abuse has occurred; they can simply call to report suspicions or concerns and let trained staff take it from there.

Start a dialogue, stay on topic and be civil.
If you don't follow the rules, your comment may be deleted.
