Letter: Clearing up parade vehicle ownership

I would like to respond to Jan Walker’s letter printed on Aug. 14 regarding the use of Sheriff’s Office vehicles in the Garfield County parade.

I absolutely agree that publicly funded vehicles should not be used to promote local political matters. That’s why the vehicle Jan was referring to was part of another parade entry, apparently promoting the Rifle Rec Center, and NOT part of our entry, or a Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

Now that we’ve straightened that out, I hope Jan and others who were confused will continue to support their Garfield County Sheriff’s Office and the many hard working, dedicated members of that organization.
